Public Education Notice: Water Service Lines
Public Education Notice: Water Service Lines
The United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Lead and Copper Rule requires action by public water systems to reduce levels of lead and copper in drinking water.
As a result, some Saluda residents were recently notified that their water service line is of unknown material. This means that some or all of the service line could be made of lead or galvanized pipe previously connected to lead.
What to do: Call a licensed plumber to investigate your water service line material and determine the next steps.
EPA has developed an online step-by-step guide to help people identify lead pipes in their homes called Protect Your Tap: A Quick Check for Lead

In addition, an online tool created by National Public Radio helps you determine if you may have a lead service line
