Community
We want to make our community aware of a scam that’s been impacting our residents: the "Blessing Scam." Often, scammers approach victims, offering to “bless” valuables like jewelry or money for good luck. In the process, they steal or swap items with worthless replacements.
Here are tips to help you and your loved ones stay safe:
Stay Alert: Be cautious if someone approaches you with offers of blessings or spiritual rituals, especially around personal items.
Don’t Engage with Strangers Asking for Valuables: Politely decline and walk away if someone asks to touch or bless your personal belongings.
Trust Your Instincts: If someone’s actions or words feel suspicious, stay on guard.
Report Suspicious Activity: If you experience or witness suspicious behavior, contact the Redwood City Police 24-hour Dispatch Center at (650) 780-7100. For emergencies or crimes in progress, always call 9-1-1 immediately.
Let’s keep our community safe and informed! Please share this message to help spread awareness.
