Wind Advisory - Wednesday, November 6 - Thursday, November 7
High Wind Warnings have been issued by the National Weather Service. According to forecasters, the strongest winds with this upcoming Santa Ana wind event will begin Wednesday and will continue until midday Thursday.
Gusty winds will peak at 80 to 100 mph in the San Gabriel Mountains Widespread damaging wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph are expected in most mountains and foothills in LA County, forecasters said, and coastal areas will likely experience damaging gusts of 50 to 70 mph.
Prepare ahead for high winds:
- Secure outdoor patio furniture to avoid damage
- Report power outages to SCE.com/outage
- Report fallen palm fronds and tree branches to Culver City Public Works at (310) 253-6420
- Assume all downed power lines are electrified and dangerous. If you or someone else is in danger, dial 911.
- Ensure you have flashlight and backup batteries ready
- Charge phones and portable chargers
- Have a backup plan for any medical equipment that requires power
- Create or inspect your household emergency kit
