Suspect Identified and Located After Committing Assault in Needles on Tuesday
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at approximately, 10:50 p.m.
INCIDENT: P.C. 245(A)(1)- Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Not a Firearm)
LOCATION: 1900 block of Race Street, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Windell Ward, 52 Years Old, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at approximately 10:05 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Sheriff's Station/Needles Police Department responded to the 1900 block of Race Street, reference an assault.
During the investigation, it was determined the suspect, Windell Ward, chased the victim out of the residence and into the street with a knife. The victim was able to run away and call 9-1-1. The suspect then fled the scene.
Windell Ward was contacted a short time later during a pedestrian stop near O Street and Davidson Street, and was arrested without incident. Ward was positively identified as the suspect and was transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Ward remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $40,000.00, awaiting a court hearing.
