McDowell EOC Update 11/6/24

Ongoing Debris Removal Efforts Progress Across McDowell County

Today, crews continued their diligent efforts to clear debris across McDowell County. Eleven trucks are currently deployed, actively removing debris along primary and secondary roadways maintained by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). Crews have focused on key areas today, including the Town of Old Fort, Crooked Creek, Bat Cave Road, and the City of Marion. Looking ahead, residents along US 221 North and NC 80 can expect debris removal services to commence by the end of the week, as confirmed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. We thank the community for its patience and support as we work tirelessly to restore our roads and neighborhoods. Once the Emergency Operations Center confirms the schedule with US Army Corps of Engineers, we will notify residents through Nixle alerts and publish updated schedules on our recovery website at www.mcdowellgov.com/helene. To receive real-time updates, residents can sign up for Nixle alerts by texting 28752 to 888777.
