The Township of Teaneck 2024 Leaf Collection process is fully under way.
As an update, our contractor is scheduled to assist with leaf collection beginning on Monday, Nov. 4th from 7am - 5pm. The DPW will also start working on Saturdays beginning Nov. 9th.
Please be advised that several factors have contributed to this year's leaf collection process being more difficult than last year:
1) DROUGHT CONDITIONS- leaves are blowing more easily making it difficult to maintain piles for pickup and clean up.
2) LATE LEAF SEASON- As you may have observed, leaves have fallen very late this year. The result is more leaves falling at once and more leaves to clear in a limited timeframe.
The Township has been split into zones to ensure our efficiency in addressing the whole Township. Residents may rake leaves, loose grass, and small plants into the roadway at curbside.
Be careful to only place leaves, grass cuttings, and small plant material in the leaf piles. Do NOT place logs, branches, stones, or large plant material in the street during the leaf collection period, as they are not suitable for composting and could damage the street cleaning equipment.
Please be patient with our crews in the roadways. We are working hard to remove the leaf piles as quickly as possible.
