Wilmington Police arrest two men on gun charges, recover stolen vehicle:
Wilmington Police have arrested two men on gun charges and recovered a stolen vehicle.
On November 4, at approximately 9:44 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division were in the 1000 block of South Market Street when they observed a stolen vehicle. Police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, at which time the vehicle disregarded and fled the area. A short time later, the vehicle was located in the area of Linden and Porter Streets where two male subject fled from the vehicle on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, police took 20-year-old Darien Harden of Claymont, and a 17-year-old male juvenile of Edgemoor, into custody without incident, and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.
Harden has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Possession of a Destructive Weapon
- Resisting Arrest
The 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Possession of a Destructive Weapon
- Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500
- Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal
- Resisting Arrest
