Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Weeks of October 21-November 3, 2024
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There were five robberies and one attempted robbery during the past two weeks.
On Monday, 10-21-24, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Santa Barbara Avenue on a report of a robbery. The victim, a postal worker, stated that a suspect approached him and stated, “Give me all your keys.” The suspect claimed to have a knife, and the victim saw a silver object in the suspect’s right hand, which he believed was a knife. The suspect grabbed approximately 12 keys from the victim and ran north on Santa Barbara Avenue. The victim described the suspect as a light-complexioned, slender male, approximately 18-22 years old, with brown eyes, wearing a gray hooded jacket and a black mask. This investigation is continuing.
On Wednesday, 10-23-24, at approximately 4:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Skyline Drive to meet with a victim who stated that at an unknown time, in the area of Edgemont Drive and Higate Drive, he was robbed by two unknown suspects who had guns. The suspects took the victim’s California ID card, a gift card with a balance of $15-$20, and approximately $215 before fleeing. The victim described one suspect as a Black male and the other suspect a Hispanic male. Both suspects wore black clothing and masks.
On Tuesday, 10-29-24, at approximately 4:08 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Lucky Supermarket on Mission Street on a report of a battery. The store employee stated that a suspect holding a bag full of groceries walked past all checkout terminals toward her vehicle. The groceries were valued at approximately $170. The store employee followed the suspect to the vehicle and confronted the suspect about the shoplifting. While the store employee was waiting for security to assist, the suspect threw the bag of groceries into the rear of the vehicle, pushed the store employee, and brandished a pink bottle of pepper spray. Security arrived and retrieved most of the groceries, but the suspect drove out of the parking lot. The store employee was able to take a photo of the suspect. Later, officers located the suspect at a Safeway in South San Francisco, recovered the remaining groceries that belonged to Lucky’s, and found the pink bottle of pepper spray in the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect, a 23-year-old South San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.
On Wednesday, 10-30-24, at approximately 2:06 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Nordstrom Rack at the Serramonte Center on a report of a robbery. An asset protection employee stated that he observed a female suspect select a black purse, concealed it under clothing in a black bag in the shopping cart, and then selected beanies, which she concealed in a cream-colored beanie and placed in the black bag. The suspect went into the dressing room with five items and exited with five items. The purse and beanies were not returned. The suspect exited the store without paying and was stopped by asset protection employees. Asset protection employees were able to retrieve the merchandise, valued at approximately $575. The suspect fled but was later located. The suspect, a 34-year-old Modesto resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and possession of burglary tools.
On Sunday, 11-03-24, at approximately 7:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Vista Grande Avenue on a report of a robbery. The victim stated that while she was walking, a suspect grabbed her head from behind and pulled her to the ground. While on the ground, the suspect attempted to pull her black crossbody purse from her. The suspect was unable to pull the purse away, and a second and third suspect approached. The victim said the suspects told her to just let go of the purse, and everything would be okay. Fearing for her life, the victim removed her purse, and one of the suspects took it. All three suspects fled west on Vista Grande Avenue. The victim’s purse contained a beige purse, passport, ID card, and cash. Officers later located the suspects, and after the victim identified them, they were arrested. Officers recovered the victim’s purse and its contents, which included $1,845, and returned it to the victim. The first suspect, a 19-year-old Daly City resident, was booked into jail for robbery, conspiracy, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The second suspect, a 17-year-old Daly City resident, was booked into the Youth Services Center for robbery, conspiracy, and possession of a dagger. The third suspect, a 16-year-old Daly City resident, was booked into the Youth Services Center for robbery, conspiracy, possession of a stun gun, and resisting arrest.
On Tuesday, 10-22-24, at approximately 11:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to Miss Tomato on 87th Street on a report of a firearm being discharged. An employee stated that an unknown suspect, holding a firearm, entered the store and demanded money. The employee dropped his cell phone, and the suspect fired one round in the direction of the employee, hitting the deli fridge. When the employee reached for his cell phone and stood back up, the unknown suspect fled. The employee described the suspect as a White male, approximately 5’5” to 5’7” tall, and 25 years old, wearing a red ski mask. This investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglaries
There were three residential burglaries during the past two weeks.
On Wednesday, 10-23-24, between 7:30 a.m. and 8:40 a.m., a residence on the unit block of Frankfort Street was burglarized. The unknown suspects entered the residence and stole a gun, as well as a safe containing jewelry and documents. The unknown suspects fled southbound on Frankfort Street in a white, four door sedan with tinted windows. This investigation is continuing.
On Thursday, 10-24-24, at approximately 5:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Schwerin Street on a report of a vacant house with lights on, the garage door open, and voices inside. The reporting party stated that there were two suspects. The reporting party described one suspect as a Black male adult wearing a hooded sweatshirt, riding a child’s bicycle with a white box on the handlebars. This suspect fled northbound on Schwerin Street toward Velasco Avenue. A sergeant later recovered the bicycle and white box near the intersection of Schwerin Street and Velasco Avenue. The other suspect entered the residence through a rear door and took clothing, hair dye, tools, and other miscellaneous items. Officers located this suspect in the area of Schwerin Street and Geneva Avenue. The suspect, a 58-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for burglary.
On Friday, 11-01-24, at approximately 10:13 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Verducci Drive on a report of a residential burglary. The victim stated that the crime occurred sometime within the last two weeks. The wooden ply board on the rear sliding window was slightly damaged by an unknown suspect. The victim stated that there was no loss.
Commercial Burglaries
There were two commercial burglaries and two attempted commercial burglaries during the past two weeks.
On Monday, 10-21-24, at approximately 1:22 a.m., City Toyota on San Pedro Road was the victim of a commercial burglary when an unknown subject opened a garage door and stole a 2023 Toyota Corolla. The suspect was described as a White male wearing a black jacket, tan or white pants, and black shoes. The manager of City Toyota received a phone call on 10-22-24, advising the vehicle was blocking a driveway in San Francisco. The manager arranged for a tow truck and had the vehicle towed back to City Toyota. An officer later arrived and documented the recovery of the vehicle.
On Saturday, 11-02-24, between 6:40 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the female locker room at Planet Fitness on Junipero Serra Boulevard, forced open a lock on a locker, and stole a wallet containing a driver’s license, IDs, and various credit cards. The suspect made a $275 charge at a nearby retailer. **Online report.
On Monday, 10-28-24, at approximately 4:50 a.m., Locker.SF, a shoe store on Mission Street, was the victim of an attempted commercial burglary when a large group of unknown suspects rammed the storefront with a white Honda Accord. The suspects then ran, entered multiple vehicles, and fled. This investigation is continuing.
On Friday, 11-01-24, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Wells Fargo at the Westlake Shopping Center was the victim of an attempted commercial burglary when an unknown suspect tried to withdraw funds using a fake ID card. The unknown suspect asked to deposit a $3,500 check that belonged to someone else and then requested to withdraw $2,500. The bank teller attempted to verify the suspect’s identity by sending a one-time passcode to her cell phone as part of a two factor authentication process. The suspect stated that she did not have her cell phone to complete the one-time passcode verification, gathered her belongings, and left the bank. This investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglaries
There were seven vehicle burglaries and one attempted vehicle burglary during the past two weeks.
- Parking garage on the unit block of Hillside Boulevard—power banks, cables, child car seat, and a bag with running shoes were taken from a 2021 Lexus NX300H. The rear driver’s side window was broken. Occurred between 1:30 p.m. on 10-22-24 and 11:10 a.m. on 10-23-24. **Online report.
- Unit block of Wilshire Avenue—tools were taken from a 2017 Ford F150. The rear driver’s side window was smashed. Occurred between 9:00 p.m. on 10-22-24 and 9:00 a.m. on 10-23-24.
- 300 block of Glenwood Avenue—tools were taken from a 2009 Chevrolet Express. A driver’s side window was broken. Occurred on 10-23-24 between 4:30 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. **Online report.
- 200 block of Glenwood Avenue—tools and a tile cutting machine were taken from a 2015 Ford Transit. The rear window was smashed. Occurred on 10-23-24 at approximately 4:50 a.m. **Online report.
- 800 block of South Mayfair Avenue—loose change, a jacket, a backpack, and a satchel were taken from a 2021 Ford Mustang. The vehicle was left unlocked. Occurred between 6:30 p.m. on 11-01-24 and 9:00 a.m. on 11-02-24. All items were found except the loose change.
- 800 block of South Mayfair Avenue—loose change was taken from a 2005 Chrysler 300. The vehicle was left unlocked. Occurred between 6:30 p.m. on 11-01-24 and 9:00 a.m. on 11-02-24.
- 200 block of Palisades Drive—a pepper spray canister was taken from a 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser. The suspect was able to open the passenger door. Occurred on 11-03-24 at approximately 1:22 a.m.
- 300 block of Glenwood Avenue—an attempted auto burglary, nothing was taken from a 2012 Audi Q5. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 10-23-24 at approximately 5:00 a.m.
Stolen Vehicles
There were seven stolen vehicles and three attempted stolen vehicles during the past two weeks. Five vehicles were recovered.
- City Toyota on San Pedro Road—a theft of a 2023 Toyota Corolla. Occurred on 10-21-24 at approximately 1:22 a.m. **Recovery documented by DCPD on 10-22-24. This is the same vehicle mentioned above in the Commercial Burglary section.
- 100 block of Crestwood Drive—a theft of a 2023 Yamaha YW125 ZUMA motorbike. Occurred on 10-22-24 between 2:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
- 1000 block of Hanover Street—a theft of a 2022 Acura TLX. Occurred between 10:30 p.m. on 10-23-24 and 6:30 a.m. on 10-24-24. **Recovered by Oakland PD on 10-24-24.
- 300 block of Accacia Street—a theft of a 2017 Acura MDX. Occurred on 10-26-24 between 1:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. **Recovered by Oakland PD on 10-28-24.
- Carport on the unit block of Crestwood Drive—a theft of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra. Occurred between 11:00 p.m. on 10-31-24 and 12:30 a.m. on 11-01-24.
- 100 block of Crestwood Drive—a theft of a 2022 Yamaha MD07. Occurred on 11-01-24 at approximately 1:00 a.m. The victim had a tracker on his vehicle, found it in Oakland, and drove the vehicle home. **Recovery documented by DCPD on 11-01-24.
- Unit block of Risel Avenue—a theft of a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. Occurred between 5:30 p.m. on 11-03-24 and 4:20 a.m. on 11-04-24. **Recovered by SFPD on 11-04-24.
- 400 block of Southgate Avenue—an attempted theft of a 2014 Audi Q5. Occurred on 10-25-24 at approximately 2:52 a.m.
- 300 block of Bellevue Avenue—an attempted theft of a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. Occurred on 10-28-24 at approximately 4:27 am.
- 100 block of Simpson Drive—an attempted theft of a 2020 Acura RDX. Occurred on 10-31-24 at approximately 2:25 a.m.
Miscellaneous (Two Weeks)
- There were 303 cases taken.
- There were 19 domestic disturbance cases reported.
- There were 19 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
- There were 13 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
- There was 1 case for public intoxication.
- There were 1 hit-and-run collisions reported.
- There were 17 narcotics-related cases taken.

Free Compost Giveaway Event
The City is partnering with its waste hauler, Republic Services, to host a free compost giveaway event at the Department of Water & Wastewater Resources (153 Lake Merced Boulevard) from Wednesday, November 20 through Thursday, November 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. To participate in the compost giveaway, please bring a sturdy container, shovels, and gloves for this self-serve event. Residents must show proof of residency and are limited to five (5) 5-gallon buckets of compost per household. The event is weather permitting and will be canceled in case of rain.
