Update: MGE has the gas shut off in the area of 3436 Sunset Drive. The 3400 block of Sunset Drive has been reopened and residents in the 3400 and 3500 blocks of Sunset Drive can go back to using their electric/gas appliances as normal.
MGE will be on the scene to finish repairing the damage to the major gas line. They will also be going door to door in the area after the gas valves have been reopened to ensure people’s pilot lights and service are working properly.

MGE is on site of a gas leak caused by construction work at 3436 Sunset Drive. The leak will take some time to resolve. The 3400 block of Sunset Drive is closed to traffic for the next 2-3 hours. Please find an alternate route and avoid this area. MGE is also asking residents in the 3400 and 3500 blocks of Sunset Drive to refrain from turning on lights or stoves or other electrical/gas appliances, as a safety measure, to eliminate a potential spark near the gas leak.
