Deputies Conducting Investigation into Fatal Weekend Traffic Collision

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Fourth Street / Hermosa Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
INVOLVED PARTY: Josue Yaako, 22-year-old male from Florida
INVOLVED PARTY: Martin Magana, 32-year-old male from Fontana
SUMMARY: On November 9, 2024, at about 4:10 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a traffic collision involving two vehicles, on Fourth Street at the intersection of Hermosa Avenue.
A Ford Focus driven by Josue Yaako traveled east on Fourth Street and intended to turn north on Hermosa Avenue. A Ford Explorer driven by Martin Magana traveled west on Fourth Street in the number three lane. As Yaako initiated a left turn, Magana passed through the intersection and a collision occurred. A six-year-old female juvenile in Magana’s vehicle was critically injured. Ontario Fire Department responded and performed life-saving measures at the scene. The juvenile was transported to a local area hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the juvenile was later pronounced deceased.
Deputies M. Magdaleno and M. Wong from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
