Due to the Wildfires in New Jersey the following Fire Restrictions & Water Conservation measures are in effect.
Fire Restrictions
November 12, 2024: Over the past week or two, we've seen an increase in fire danger in our area. Low humidity, mild temperatures, and windy conditions have accelerated numerous fires due to the dry conditions we've been experiencing. There are currently multiple fires in Morris County and our local fire districts are sending some of our firefighter members to assist in those fires. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service continues with Stage 3 Restrictions for our area. While certain types of fireworks are legal in New Jersey, the use of them right now must be handled with EXTREME care. While we will not advocate the use of fireworks, we highly encourage everyone to remember the dry, windy conditions we are currently in. While enjoying the holiday please consider fire safety due to the drought conditions. All questions should be directed to your local fire district (Montville, Pine Brook & Towaco).
Water Conservation
November 12, 2024: The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection conducted a Drought Warning Virtual Public Hearing today. The State is experiencing a significant hydrological drought. That means that we are not only seeing very little to no precipitation, but also storage of water in reservoirs and subsurface aquifers is very low. The NJDEP monitors the regional drought conditions, and the Montville Township area is at a level 3 Drought Watch condition. This will likely be elevated to a level 4 Drought Warning in the near future. If conditions do not improve, the next level is a Drought Emergency, level 5. All efforts to conserve non-essential water use should be utilized immediately.
