Claremont Man Arrested for Animal Cruelty Involving Birds at Lake Gregory

LOCATION: Crestline (Lake Gregory), San Bernardino County
SUSPECT(S): Jeremey Jansen, 36-years-old, Resident of Claremont
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: In November 2024, deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff's Station received a report of subjects throwing rocks at ducks in Lake Gregory. Witnesses took video of the incident, which depicted Jeremey Jansen injuring an Egret by hitting it with a rock. A second subject broke the bird's neck to ease its suffering. From the video and witness statements, investigators were able to identify the involved subjects.
On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, investigators contacted Jansen at his primary residence in Claremont and confirmed he was the subject in the video. Jansen was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Penal Code 597(a)—Animal Cruelty and Fish and Game Code 3800(a)—Kill Nongame Bird.
