Officers arrest a man for possession of a firearm and drug related charges.
 
San Mateo, CA – On November 12, 2024, at 6:50 p.m., San Mateo Police Department received a call about a disturbance that was occurring on the 500 block of South Norfolk Street.  The reporting party stated the person causing the disturbance was possibly using drugs. 
 
Officers arrived at the location and found the suspect, identified as Jeremy Cabrera, in front of a home.  Cabrera was acting erratically and due to his behavior, he was detained in handcuffs.  Officers immediately located a loaded pistol in Cabrera’s pants pocket.  The firearm was removed and safely secured.
 
Officers spoke to witness and evaluated Cabrera.  After the evaluation, Cabrera was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance.  During a search, officers located a plastic bag containing suspected cocaine and additional ammunition for the firearm.  The firearm was not registered to Cabrera.  Officers collected these items as evidence.  Cabrera was transported and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and carrying a loaded firearm.         
 
We need the community’s support in reporting crimes and being a good witness.  If you witness a crime, contact police immediately.  Try to remain as calm as possible and do your best to answer questions on the phone.  Remember details such as the suspect’s appearance, clothing, any distinguishing features, and which direction they flee. Once the police arrive at the scene, cooperate fully, and provide the officers with all the information you have.  Your observations can greatly assist law enforcement in their investigation.
