Winter Weather Advisory until 03:00AM Friday
* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. Visibility reduced to one half mile.
* WHERE...East Turnagain Arm, mainly along Portage Glacier Road.
* WHEN...From 3 PM this afternoon to 3 AM AKST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow and gusty easterly winds will develop through Portage Valley this afternoon and continue into early Friday morning. Temperatures in the 20s at the onset of the snow and wind will allow for significant blowing and drifting of snow. Temperatures are expected to climb to around freezing by late Thursday evening or early Friday morning, helping to limit the amount of blowing snow. Snow and blowing snow will taper off Friday morning as temperatures climb above freezing.
