Important Fire Update 12pm 
We have just received another update from Fire Operations.
Beginning tomorrow, 11-15-24, an advanced offensive firefighting operation will begin and continue into the weekend. Aproximately 1500 acres will be purposely backburned to starve the entire fire of additional fuel. The area to be managed will begin from Greenwood Lake to the fire tower near Sterling Lake on Friday. On Saturday the area will extend from the firetower to Long Meadow Rd.
You will see a heavy increase in the numbers of apparatus and firefighters in the Long Meadow Rd. area. You will also see an increase in helicopter quenching activity as well. Please avoid traveling in this area until further notice.
The wind pattern will change during this timeframe and heavy smoke may be encountered in the Eagle Valley/Tuxedo Park Village area over the next 2 days. If you have respiratory issues or know someone that does and you encounter these conditions, please call the Tuxedo Police at 845-351-5111 or call 911. We have aqcuired temporary shelter if needed.
THERE IS NO CAUSE FOR ALARM - The Town and Village of Tuxedo are not in any fire danger. This is once again an offensive operation to kill this fire completely. These operations may continue for the next 7 days approximately.
