Please be advised that on November 15, 2024, the Jekyll Island Authority will conduct a controlled burn on small patches of land behind the Holiday Inn Resort, north of Oceanview Beach Park.
This burn will take place from approximately 9 AM to 10:30 AM. It does not pose any threat to nearby structures or the beachfront.
Smoke visibility is anticipated to be brief and minimal in this area but will be monitored throughout the burn.
No road closures are planned at this time. The adjacent bike path will remain open unless closure is necessary and will be communicated to bicyclists/walkers at that time.
All burn plans have been approved by Georgia Forestry and will be managed and monitored by the Jekyll Island Fire Department and the JIA Conservation team.
