McDowell County Storm Debris Collection Update: Right Of Way Pick Up Ongoing

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and storm debris removal contractor AshBritt are actively continuing right-of-way (ROW) debris pickup across McDowell County. It’s important for the community to know that multiple passes will be made along the ROW, so if a contractor has already been through your area, rest assured they will return for additional collection. Currently, ROW pickup is focused along primary and secondary NCDOT roads. For any questions about debris pickup, please visit www.mcdowellgov.com/helene or call 828-652-3241. To stay informed, we encourage citizens to sign up for Nixle updates from the EOC by texting 28752 to 888777. As a reminder, do not place storm debris in bags. Bagged household waste will not be picked up by storm debris contractors, and should be handled through normal waste pickup or taken to a convenience center. Separating your debris into these categories will ensure efficient pickup of debris along the ROW.
