On 11/14/2024 at around 1 PM, Police Dispatch received multiple 911 calls for a vehicle that collided into a building on the corner of San Pablo Avenue and 40th Street. Citizens pulled the driver out of the vehicle and rendered first aid until Police, Fire and Medical personnel arrived on scene. The driver, a male in his 60’s, was transported to the hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries. No other persons were injured in this collision.
According to witnesses, the driver appeared to have suffered a medical emergency which caused him to accelerate his vehicle and collide with a traffic light then with the business.
The traffic light at San Pablo Avenue and 40th Street is still inoperable with an unknown estimated time to be fixed. Please proceed through the intersection with caution. City of Emeryville building inspectors quickly responded and assessed the structure. Black and White Liquor Store has been cleared to remain open for business.
