Office of Traffic Safety Awards $36,500 Grant to the Mill Valley Police Department to Improve Traffic Data Reporting
Mill Valley, Calif. – The Mill Valley Police Department announced today that it has received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a traffic records improvement project to report crash and citation data faster and more efficiently. The grant program runs through September 2025.
"Thanks to this grant, we're upgrading our citation reporting system to further a data-driven strategy that concentrates on high-priority traffic resource areas,” Sgt Puccetti said. "Improved reporting of citation statistics helps inform where we conduct education and enforcement measures, enhancing safety on our community's roads.”
Grant funds will pay for new electronic citation equipment. This equipment will streamline the process for our officers to author citations in a quick and efficient manner. Electronic citation equipment is the way of the future as it is greener for our community. More importantly, this equipment will allow officers to be back in service faster, ultimately reducing the time we spend on the side of the roadway.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
