The Woods Memorial Bridge in Beaufort, will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 8 PM to 6 AM on Monday, November 18 for maintenance.
The bridge will be closed so crews can install a new set of gates to block traffic when the bridge opens for boats. The previous gates were prone to electrical issues that would close the bridge unexpectedly, causing traffic backups.
The closure may cause traffic backups on Lady's Island Drive and Ribaut Road as motorist use the Mcteer Bridge in Port Royal to go on and off Lady’s Island during these hours.
