Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges for Huntersville Man
Detective David Jones with McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team charged 37-year-old Joseph William Travis Couch of Huntersville with two counts of felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance. Couch was held without bond due to already being out on pre-trial release from another county.
On October 24, Det. Jones initiated a traffic stop on a Volkswagen traveling West on I-40. A K9 unit alerted positive to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle. Couch, who was the driver, was removed while a further search for narcotics took place. Detectives and deputies located amounts of cocaine and ketamine.
Couch was taken into custody and transported to McDowell County Jail.
