Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda requests the public’s help identifying the below-pictured male and female suspects in connection with a theft that occurred on Monday, November 11, 2024.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., a woman waiting at a bus stop in the 100 block of Ferry Street was approached by a male and a female who exited a dark-colored Nissan Murano and asked her for directions. The suspects further asked the victim for assistance in finding an apartment. The suspects accompanied the woman to her apartment in the Central Ward after traveling there on a NJ Transit bus.
Once inside the victim’s apartment, the male suspect gave the victim a pink bag to secure her cash and jewelry. As the suspects were about to exit the apartment, the male suspect went back inside, claiming to have forgotten one of his belongings. After the suspects left, the pink bag containing approximately $2,000.00 in cash and jewelry valued at approximately $2,000.00 had been stolen.
Detectives investigating this incident describe the male suspect as Hispanic and wearing a white hat, a light-blue and silver Nike jacket, blue jeans, a blue surgical mask, and brown sneakers. He was also carrying a white and black backpack. The female suspect is described as Hispanic, wearing a black Puma sweat suit, black hat, black surgical mask, and carrying a brown purse.
