Drought Warning in Effect for NJ
On Wednesday, Nov. 13, Gov. Phil Murphy and DEP Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette declared a Drought Warning, and the mandatory statewide Stage 3 fire restrictions remain in effect. New Jersey continues to experience historically low precipitation, above-average temperatures, and deteriorating water-supply conditions. New Jersey's Drought Status has been elevated to "WARNING."
Since June, New Jersey has seen 6-11 inches less rain than normal.
These Drought Warning restrictions prohibit all fires unless they are contained in an elevated stove using only propane, natural gas, or electricity. No wood or charcoal fires are allowed, and the use of kerosene or gas torches of any kind is prohibited while this statewide restriction is in place.
Residents are strongly encouraged to conserve water.
Instructions:
Conserve Water
-Take five-minute showers
-Only run a load of laundry or dishes when full
-Turn off the water when brushing teeth
-Install low-flow shower-heads, faucets, and toilets
