Incident Summary

On 11/15/2024 at approximately 1:04 PM, a Petaluma Police Traffic Sergeant was conducting traffic enforcement near the intersection of E. Washington Street and Lakeville Street. At approximately this time, he observed a gold-colored Ford Mustang performing a “burnout” for over 100 feet in the intersection.

The maneuver caused a large plume of smoke that partially obstructed the vision of nearby drivers and was considered to be reckless driving. The sergeant performed a traffic stop of the vehicle and identified the driver as 22-year-old Angel Ruano Ordaz.

Based on Ordaz’s observed driving, he was placed under arrest for 23103 CVC- Reckless Driving and 23109(c) -Exhibition of Speed. After his initial arrest, he admitted that there was a concealed firearm in the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and located an unsecured handgun in the center console with a loaded magazine resting against it.

An additional charge of 25400(a)(1) PC- Carry a Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle, was added to his list of charges. His vehicle was impounded, and he was later transported to the Sonoma County Jail and booked for the listed charges.
