Elevated Risk of Wild Fire
ELEVATED RISK OF WILDFIRE SPREAD
On behalf of Mayor Michael Johnson, Haledon Emergency Management Coordinator Carlos Aymat, Fire Chief Tom Baker, and Haledon Fire Prevention Bureau Chief Robert Devirgilio, please be reminded that there is an increased risk of fire spread. A special advisory is in effect. Northwest winds gusting as high as 35 mph, combined with dry fuels and low relative humidity values between 30% and 40%, will support the spread of any fires that ignite.
Therefore, all outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Please ensure the proper extinguishment or disposal of any potential ignition sources, including smoking materials such as cigarette butts.
For questions, you may contact Fire Marshal Robert Devirgilio at 973-595-7766, Extension 135. For emergencies, please contact the Haledon Police Department at 973-790-4444, or you may dial 9-1-1.
