Holiday Mail Theft Warning - Protect Your Packages!
Dear Bear Valley Residents,
As the holiday season approaches, we know many of you are sharing the joy by sending and receiving gifts and packages through the mail. Unfortunately, during this time, there is often an increase in mail theft as criminals take advantage of the opportunity to steal packages from mailboxes.
We encourage all residents to be extra vigilant, especially around community mailbox areas. Here are some steps you can take to help prevent mail theft and protect your deliveries:
- Report Suspicious Activity: If you see unfamiliar people lingering around mailboxes or behaving suspiciously, please contact us immediately. Be a good witness by noting descriptions of the individuals or any vehicles involved, especially the license plate number. Remember, your safety comes first—do not confront anyone directly.
- Retrieve Packages Promptly: Try to pick up your mail and packages as soon as possible after delivery. This minimizes the chance for thieves to access them.
- Use Alternative Delivery Options: If possible, consider having packages delivered to a secure location, such as a local postal facility or pickup center, or request signature confirmation for delivery.
Sincerely,
Bear Valley Police Department
