Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Suspect in Home Invasion

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured suspect, who pointed a gun at a victim during a home invasion on November 16, 2024.
                              .
The home invasion occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. after the suspect and another male suspect attempted to steal an electric bike from a residence on Elm Street. Owners of the electric bicycle chased the suspects and retrieved it after an altercation. As the owners were filing a robbery report at the Franklin Street precinct, the suspects returned to the owner’s Elm Street home, where they kicked in the door brandishing a weapon. They confronted a basement tenant, demanding that the tenant return their cell phone. The suspects then fled from the residence.

Suspect # 1, armed with a handgun, is a tall, skinny, light-skinned male, who wore a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

Suspect #2 is a dark-skinned male with brown hair and a medium build. He wore a blue and white jacket and multi-colored pants.

Director Miranda Sr. urges anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are confidential and could result in a reward.
