The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2024:
 
9:40 AM Officer Lomeli investigated a theft from an Amazon locker.
 
10:56 AM Officer Jackman investigated an attempted vehicle theft using a lockpicking tool near Jarvis Ave & Gateway Blvd.
 
12:47 PM Officer Dale responded to a trespassing call at Balentine Dr & Mowry School Road. Upon investigation, a commercial burglary and vandalism occurred. Multiple doors had the lock cut or forced apart. Cables were removed from multiple electrical panels and there were traces of squatting on the property.
 
2:30 PM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle burglary near Clark Ave & Cherry St. The rear trunk was pried open resulting in the loss of paperwork and personal items.
 
4:52 PM Officer Leath was dispatched to Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd on the report of a theft. A 32-year-old female was arrested for shoplifting and violating the terms of her probation. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
5:43 PM Officer Lomeli investigated the report of a package theft that had occurred in the prior week near Enterprise Dr & Willow St.
 
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2024:
 
7:17 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a commercial burglary near Chapman & Blackburn Dr. The point of entry is unknown currently. Various electronics were reported taken.
 
10:45 AM Officer Dale investigated a package theft reported near Chapman Dr & Lake Blvd.
 
4:57 PM Officer Shaffer was on patrol near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave and contacted a person known to be on probation. The 35-year-old male was discovered in possession of narcotics and had multiple outstanding warrants. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:04 PM Officer Berlanga investigated a commercial burglary near Newpark Mall Road. A storage lock was cut open.
 
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2024:
 
1:08 AM Officer Cervantes responded to a court order violation near Spruce St & Bridgepointe Dr. A 52-year-old male was arrested for violating court orders and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
12:40 PM Officer S. Torres was dispatched to a license plate theft reported near Cedar Blvd & Sandalwood St.
 
5:06 PM Officer Medina responded to the area of Central Ave & Cedar Blvd for a bicycle that was stolen while left unattended.
 
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2024:
 
7:23 AM Officer Williams responded to a disturbance near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 26-year-old male was arrested for assault and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:59 AM Officer Medina responded to Newark & Cedar Boulevards for the report of a commercial burglary. Entry was determined through a shattered window. Additional losses included power tools.
 
10:25 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated a vehicle burglary reported near George Ave & Magnolia St. A rear toolbox was accessed, which resulted in the loss of various power tools.
 
10:34 AM Officer C. Torres recovered a stolen vehicle near Stevenson Blvd & Albrae St.
 
11:30 AM CSO Lau investigated the theft of a vehicle camping accessory near Sycamore St & Graham Ave.
 
11:36 AM Officer Medina investigated a robbery reported near Cherry St & Sea Turtle Ave where jewelry was reported taken.
 
5:25 PM CSO Lau & CSO Mora investigated multiple package theft reports near Hickory St & Seawind Way.
 
11:53 PM Officer Dale contacted a pedestrian on Balentine Dr. The 43-year-old male was determined to be on probation. He was arrested for possession of narcotics and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2024:
 
1:37 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a vehicle burglary near Newpark Mall Road. The rear bed of the vehicle was pried open and rummaged through.
 
7:52 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a vehicle theft near Cedar & Lido Blvds.
 
10:57 AM Officer C. Torres responded to a disturbance near Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 38-year-old female was arrested for possession of narcotics and property that did not belong to her.
 
12:35 PM Officers investigated a commercial burglary near Cedar Blvd & Balentine Dr. Reported loss included electronics and academic material.
 
8:40 PM CSO Mora investigated a package theft near Cardiff St & Portsmouth Ave.
 
9:46 PM Officers responded to a disturbance near Cedar Blvd & Mirabeau Dr.
 
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2024:
 
5:50 PM Officer Lara investigated the theft of a wallet on Newpark Mall Road.
 
8:12 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a package theft that occurred near Seawind Way & Hickory St.
 
11:39 PM Officer Swadener initiated a traffic stop on Central Ave & Farwell Dr. A 61-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2024:
 
6:07 AM Officer Shaffer responded to a disturbance near Sycamore St & George Ave. A 43-year-old male was arrested for robbery and spousal battery. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:30 AM Officer Orozco responded to a theft reported near Newark Blvd & Mayhews Landing Rd. A 27-year-old male was detained for shoplifting and was released on scene.
 
6:44 PM Officer Lara responded to a domestic disturbance near Elm St & Thornton Ave.
 
10:17 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle theft reported on Cherry St & Dairy Ave.
