Workers Find Grenades, Smoke & Fragmentary, Near Putah Creek Canal; Fragmentary Grenade Inert - No Threat to Public

This morning, 19 November, just before 9:00 am, workers cleaning out the Putah Creek Canal between Martin Road and Hilborn Road located what appeared to be a smoke grenade and fragmentary grenade.

Officers responded to the scene and  called Travis Air Force Base’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team to assist. EOD arrived and determined that although the smoke grenade was live the fragrementary grenade was not. EOD took control of both devices for disposal.

At no time was there a threat to the public, neither were evacuations required.
