Wilmington Police arrest man and woman in connection with July fatal assault:
Wilmington Police have arrested a man and woman in connection with a July fatal assault.
On July 29 at approximately 12:40 a.m., police were dispatched to the 300 block of East 27th Street in reference to an injured person suffering from a head injury. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as 60-year-old Dwayne Clifton.
The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division, and the investigation continued in conjunction with the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences. It was later determined that Clifton’s injuries were sustained during an assault that had occurred.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Shea identified 52-year-old Adrian Richardson and 54-year-old Sonya Tull as suspects in connection with the assault.
The case was presented to the New Castle County Grand Jury on November 4, and an indictment was returned for Richardson and Tull. On November 18, Richardson and Tull were taken into custody without incident.
Richardson has been charged with the following offenses:
- Manslaughter
- Burglary (First Degree)
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
Tull has been charged with the following offenses:
- Burglary (first Degree)
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
