Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on November 20, 2024 at approximately 08:37am, his Deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle personal injury crash, at the intersection of Pokagon Hwy and Dailey Rd.
 
Investigation shows that 24 year-old South Bend resident Dylan Vantubberger failed to yield the right -of –way to a vehicle traveling westbound on Pokagon Hwy. The vehicle traveling westbound was driven by 28-year-old Cassopolis resident Reid Walter, who crashed into Vantubberger. Vantubberger’s passenger, 85 year-old Zilda Alburitel  was taken to St. Joe Medical for injuries sustained  in this crash.  
 
Seatbelts were worn at the time of the crash. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in this crash.
Assisting Agencies: Cassopolis Fire and SMCAS ambulance assisted at the scene.
