Press Release: Los Altos Police Leads Multi-Agency Traffic Safety Event
Los Altos, Calif. — November 20, 2024 — On Tuesday, November 19, the Los Altos Police Department led a coordinated Group Enforcement event in Los Altos to improve traffic safety and reduce collisions.
Between 8-11 AM, 18 traffic enforcement officers (on police motorcycles) from various agencies throughout Santa Clara County worked collaboratively to provide concentrated traffic education and enforcement. This involved conducting traffic enforcement stops for California Vehicle Code violations, focusing on school zones in the morning hours. After the morning school traffic ended, officers shifted their attention to areas with higher-than-average collision rates and those known for frequent citizen complaints.
During the event, officers issued 53 citations.
The Los Altos Police Department would like to thank the following participating agencies:
- Campbell Police Department
- Milpitas Police Department
- Mountain View Police Department
- Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office
- Santa Clara Police Department
- Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety
“These efforts prioritized the safety of our most vulnerable road users—children walking and biking to school—while addressing problematic areas within the City. We are grateful for our law enforcement partners’ help in achieving this,” said Chief Saskia Lagergren. “As the daylight hours decrease and rain increases, we remind everyone to be extra cautious and vigilant as you travel the streets.”
