SUBJECT: Attempted Theft Incident
LOCATION: 800 Block of Woodside Road, Redwood City
DATE/TIME: November 20, 2024, Approximately 6:00 pm
On 11/20/2024, at approximately 6:00PM, Redwood City Police Officers were dispatched to the report of an attempted robbery and that the victim had shot himself. Upon arrival Officers learned the following: At approximately 6:00 PM 4 suspects entered a local business armed with a sledgehammer in an obvious attempt to damage display cases and steal items. The store attendant saw the suspects enter and armed himself with a legally owned firearm. The attendant confronted the suspects and they fled the scene in an unknown sedan. Approximately one hour later the attendant was moving items when the firearm being stored in his pants pocket accidentally discharged. The bullet struck the attendant in his leg. The first arriving officers provided medical aid and the attendant was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
