Officers arrest two suspects during a traffic stop for selling and possessing narcotics.
San Mateo, CA – On November 17, 2024, officers on patrol noticed a vehicle driving northbound on South Norfolk Street. The officers made a proactive traffic stop of the vehicle for an equipment violation and the car stopped near the intersection of South Norfolk Street and 3rd Avenue.
Officers contacted the driver, Jose Lopez-Lopez, and the passenger Norma Herrera. Lopez-Lopez consented to a search of his vehicle. During a search of the car and subsequent searches of Lopez-Lopez and Herrera, officers found the following: 18.9 grams of cocaine, 0.9 grams of methamphetamine, several plastic baggies, a digital scale, and $8,723 in cash.
Officers determined Lopez-Lopez and Herrera were in possession of narcotics for sale. The San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and the money found was collected as evidence along with the narcotics. Lopez-Lopez and Herrera were arrested and booked into San Mateo County Jail.
