Local Business Cited for Selling Cannabis and Flavored Tobacco Products
On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, members of the Simi Valley Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) and members of the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) conducted an inspection of the Tobacco & More #4 Smoke Shop located at 2760 Tapo Canyon Rd. During the inspection, several violations were discovered including the illegal sale of cannabis products and the sale of flavored tobacco products. All the illegal items were seized in accordance with state law. The owner, Abdelmalak Eid Boushf Abdelmalak, who is a resident of Oxnard was cited for a criminal violation and will also face civil penalties for each violation.
On November 8, 2022, California voters upheld the state law, SB 793, prohibiting a tobacco retailer, or any of the tobacco retailer’s agents or employees, from selling, offering for sale, or possessing with the intent to sell or offer for sale, most flavored tobacco products including flavored e-cigarettes and menthol cigarettes, as well as tobacco product flavor enhancers in retail locations. This includes the sale of:

- Flavored loose-leaf roll-your-own tobacco
- Flavored tobacco rolling papers
- Tobacco product flavor enhancers

The Simi Valley Police Department’s SET team is an entity within the Special Enforcement Bureau and was established as a crime suppression unit meant to address various crimes within the City.
