Police Investigating Fatal Collision near Santa Clara University
On November 21, 2024, at approximately 11:58 a.m., Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision with injuries involving a vehicle and pedestrian on El Camino Real and Accolti Way, near Santa Clara University. When officers arrived, they located a male pedestrian on the ground with visible injuries on El Camino Real south of Accolti Way.
SCFD personnel provided first aid and performed life-saving measures. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Prior to the collision, the driver was seen traveling southbound on El Camino Real approaching Accolti Way. There were no other vehicles reported to be involved, however the incident is still under investigation. The pedestrian was identified as an 18-year-old resident of Santa Clara and student at Santa Clara University.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators. The investigation is preliminary, but drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
