INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Mariposa Road / Cottonwood Avenue, Victorville
VICTIM(S): Deceased Male - Pending Identification
SUMMARY: On Saturday, November 23, 2024, at approximately 4:09 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Station, officers from the California Highway Patrol, and rescue personnel from the Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response, responded to a traffic collision on the Interstate 15 Freeway, in Victorville.
Upon arrival, it was determined a blue Audi GTRS drove south on Mariposa Road, north of the intersection with Cottonwood Avenue. The Audi struck the curb and launched onto the Interstate 15 Freeway. The Audi collided into a gray Nissan Pathfinder. The driver of the Audi sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Nissan sustained minor injuries and were transported to local hospital for treatment.
The Victorville Police Station Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of the collision is under investigation. Interstate Freeway 15 northbound lanes and Mariposa road were closed for the duration of the accident investigation.
