...LONG DURATION SNOW EVENT FOR JUNEAU... .Low pressure will move into the NE Gulf of Alaska from the Bering Sea on Monday then remain relatively stationary through Tuesday. Moisture will clash with established stable, dry air to produce consistent snow for portions of the northern Panhandle. Less moisture is now expected with this upcoming system, leading to statements being downgraded, however long duration snowfall will cause accumulations to occur, particularly in the Juneau area.
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations around 4 inches.
* WHERE...City and Borough of Yakutat.
* WHEN...From 6 AM to 6 PM AKST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Expect heaviest rates for a short duration Tuesday afternoon. Precipitation will continue beyond 6 PM Monday, but warmer conditions are expected to be unfavorable for snow accumulation.
