All Road Closures Cleared on Bainbridge Island

All previously noted road closures on Bainbridge Island have been cleared. Puget Sound Energy and the City of Bainbridge Island Public Works Operations and Maintenance personnel have been working tirelessly to clean up debris and restore power to the island after the bomb cyclone struck Western Washington last Tuesday.

Here is an update of response-related activities as noted in the weekly City Highlight:

As the bomb cyclone swept through Bainbridge Island, Public Works crews were on standby starting at 6 p.m. on Tues., Nov. 19, responding to calls and working through the night. They cleared 13 fallen trees and numerous limbs, placed barricades, and managed road closures across multiple locations, including:

  • Ferncliff Avenue (north of High School Road)
  • Eagle Harbor Drive (west of Taylor)
  • Manitou Beach Drive (between Murden Cove and N Madison)
  • Manzanita Road (between Day and Hidden Cove)
  • Wing Point Way (between Cherry and Ferryview)
  • Springridge Road
  • Winther Road
  • NE South Beach Drive (partial lane closure)
  • Agatewood Road NE

The team also reported downed power lines to Puget Sound Energy (PSE).

Meanwhile, City utilities crew members worked through the night addressing power failures at lift stations and well sites. They ensured generators and backup power systems functioned properly.

The Bainbridge Island Police Department responded to calls throughout the storm, while the City's Emergency Management Coordinator monitored conditions closely, prepared for potential Emergency Operations Center activation, and coordinated some communication.

On Wed., Nov. 20, crews continued cleanup efforts, sweeping debris from roads, chipping fallen branches, and fueling generators at City facilities impacted by ongoing power outages, including lift stations and well houses.

Their tireless work ensured public safety and restored essential services across the island.
