Rescission of Open Burning Ban Issued on November 8, 2024
Effective immediately, the temporary burning ban that was issued on November 8, 2024 is hereby rescinded.
This decision follows an assessment of current environmental conditions, including recent precipitation, cooler temperatures, and higher relative humidity. Stakeholders are now permitted to engage in small recreational fires, outdoor fire pits, and cooking fires.
Please be mindful that all open burning must comply with the Massachusetts Comprehensive Fire Safety Code (527 CMR 1.00), MGL Chapter 148, and local ordinances. Individuals conducting recreational fires are responsible for ensuring safe practices and monitoring weather conditions to prevent uncontrolled fires.
We thank you for your cooperation during the period of the ban.
