Assault update: The Middle Township Police Department's Major Crimes Unit identified the accused in the incident. The accused was arrested, charged and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility. 



On November 26, 2024, at approximately 0546 hours, the Middle Township Police Department were dispatched to Lafayette Ave. in the Green Creek section of Middle Township for a report of an assault.  Upon police arrival it was learned the victim, Michael O’Neill, observed a light skinned black/hispanic male subject in the side yard of his residence.  When O’Neill confronted the male subject, the male subject struck O’Neill in the face with a metal thermos cup causing injury.  The male subject then ran east on Lafayette Ave. from the residence.  At this time the male subject has not been located. 

The subject is described as a light skinned black/hispanic male approximately 6’0 in height, wearing an orange hooded sweat shirt and black sweat pants with white writing on them.  The incident is currently being investigated by the Middle Township Major Crimes Unit.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Middle Township Police Department at 609-465-8700.
