Today, we proudly open our Hillsdale Mall substation. This is a soft opening which will provide a police presence at the mall during the holiday season (and moving forward) for the public and allow us to determine its best and highest use. This is a place where officers can write reports, address situations occurring at the mall, or where members of the community can obtain advice regarding police services.

This substation (located across from Andersen Bakery and next to AT&T) will be open Tuesdays – Fridays from Noon until 5pm. Our Community Service Officers will man the location and assist those who need it while there. It should be noted, the use of this location is not meant to circumvent processes for reporting crime. In an emergency or for reporting in-progress crimes, calling 9-1-1 is still the preferred method. Police officers will be at this substation from time to time, but the ability to speak with a sworn officer is not a guarantee. Should an officer be needed but is not on scene, one will be dispatched there.

We want to thank Hillsdale Shopping Center and their staff for allowing us to utilize this space and for helping us get it open in time for holiday shopping. The space will be undergoing changes as we make adjustments to fit our needs and accommodate the use it is intended for.
