Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection to a May shooting incident following an investigation.
On May 8, at approximately 10:40 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 700 block of Maryland Avenue in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police located a 23-year-old male gunshot victim, who arrived to the hospital in critical condition, and a 22-year-old male gunshot victim who arrived to the hospital in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective James Rook of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Rook identified 18-year-old Amir Miller as a suspect, and obtained warrants for his arrest. On November 29, Miller was taken into custody without incident by members of the Uniformed Services Division.
Miller has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Criminal Mischief Under $1,000
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $120,000 cash-only bail.
