The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2024:
 
9:45 AM Officer Shaffer responded to a disturbance near Mayhews Landing Road & Newark Blvd. A 57-year-old male was located with an outstanding warrant at the scene and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:56 AM Officer Orozco investigated the theft of mail reported near Newark Boulevard & Bellhaven Ave.
 
2:46 PM Officer Dale recovered a stolen vehicle. A 53-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for possession of the stolen vehicle.
 
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2024:
 
9:38 AM Officer Dale investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Cedar Blvd & Thornton Ave.
 
6:59 PM Officer Taylor investigated the theft of credit cards from a vehicle near Mirabeau & Orleans Drives.
 
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2024:
 
2:16 AM Officers investigated several vehicle burglaries throughout the shift reported near Cherry St, Jarvis Ave, Newpark Mall Road and Newark Blvd. Reported loss included power tools.
 
9:32 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a theft from a vehicle near Jarvis Ave & Spruce St.
 
10:27 AM Officer Leath investigated a vehicle burglary. Reported loss included tools.
 
10:01 AM Officer Williams initiated a traffic stop at Cherry St & Stevenson Blvd. A 22-year-old male was cited for driving without a license plate and operating on a suspended license.
 
2:13 PM Officer Leath investigated a robbery reported on Newpark Mall Road. Reported loss included collectibles.
 
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2024:
 
1:36 AM Officer Dale responded to a disturbance near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 58-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication and an outstanding warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.  
 
8:22 AM Officer Medina investigated a vehicle theft reported on Newpark Mall Road.
 
1:40 PM Officer S. Torres investigated a credit card fraud and package theft reported near Hickory St & Enterprise Dr.
 
5:08 PM Officer C. Torres was dispatched to a disturbance near Cedar Blvd & Edgewater Dr. A 34-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 2024:
 
8:00 AM Officer Leath investigated a commercial burglary reported on Jarvis Ave & Dumbarton Ct. Reported loss included a cash box.
 
11:18 AM Officer Medina investigated a bicycle theft nearby Seawind Way & Hickory St.
 
1:29 PM Officer Leath investigated a vehicle theft reported near Newpark Mall Road.
 
2:42 PM Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance reported near Thornton Ave & Locust St. An 18-year-old male was arrested for aggravated assault and corporal injury. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:40 PM Officer Kim responded to an attempted residential burglary near Cherry St & Mayhews Landing Road. The door locks were observed broken and there was no reported loss.
 
11:35 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a commercial burglary reported on Newpark Mall Road. A 51-year-old male and 43-year-old male were arrested for burglary, narcotics and possession of a weapon. Both were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2024:
 
2:43 AM Officer Williams was on routine patrol and observed a vehicle violation near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 44-year-old female was arrested for driving under the influence.
 
10:23 AM Officer Frentescu investigated a package theft reported near Enterprise St & Hickory St.
 
10:54 AM Officer Lomeli investigated a license plate theft reported near Haley St & Fountaine Ave.
 
6:04 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Vuong transported a 47-year-old male into Santa Rita Jail for outstanding warrants.
 
8:50 PM Officer Swadener was on routine patrol and initiated a traffic stop on Thornton Ave & Cherry St for a vehicle without license plates. A 33-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence, and possession of narcotics and burglary tools. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
11:13 PM Officers investigated a robbery reported near Jarvis Avenue & Newark Blvd. A 19-year-old male was arrested for carjacking and a 22-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Both subjects were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2024:
 
12:16 AM Officers investigated multiple reports of vandalisms to property near Cedar Blvd & Robertston Ave.
 
2:55 PM Officer Shaffer investigated a strongarm robbery near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave. Reported loss included a ring.
 
8:05 PM Officer Lara investigated a case involving the use of illegal fireworks. A 17-year-old male was cited and released on scene.
