Fifteen Drivers Cited and One Arrested at Simi Valley DUI Checkpoint
Simi Valley, Calif. – On November 16, fifteen drivers were cited and one driver was arrested at a DUI checkpoint.
The DUI checkpoint was held at Erringer Road and Cochran Street from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
A total of 768 drivers were contacted. Five drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed, ten drivers were cited for other traffic related violations, and one driver was arrested for robbery. The suspect was wanted for felony robbery and drove through the checkpoint where one of the officers recognized the driver’s name as being a wanted person.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program.
