Sheriff Richard Behnke reports that on December 04, 2024, at approximately 4:15pm, his deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Runkle St. and Anderson Rd, Milton Township, Cass County. 
 
 
Investigation shows that a vehicle driven by 49-year-old, Gary Vargo, a Dowagiac resident, was traveling westbound on Runkle St... Vargo did not see the stop sign, due to the stop sign being knocked down. As Vargo entered the intersection of Runkle and Anderson. A Niles resident, 44-year-old Lauren Sampson, who was traveling north on Anderson Rd, entered the intersection at the same time and was struck by Vargo. Vargo and his three other passengers were checked at the scene by EMS and released.  Sampson was transported to Lakeland Niles for injuries sustained in this crash.
 
Seatbelts were worn at the time of the crash. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash. 
 
Assisting at the scene was Edwardsburg fire department and SMACS ambulance.
