Wilmington Police make arrest in connection with September fatal assault:
Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal assault that occurred in September.
On September 12 at approximately 9:43 a.m., police were dispatched to the 700 block of Catawba Street in reference to a death investigation. Police located a deceased female, who was identified as 44-year-old Myeshia Triplett.
The case was assigned to Detective Justin Kane of the Criminal Investigations Division, and the investigation continued in conjunction with the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences. On September 16, it was determined that she was the victim of a fatal assault.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Kane identified 26-year-old Kyle Batson of Bear as a suspect and learned that he had been taken into custody and was being held on unrelated charges in Maryland on September 12 following the fatal assault in Wilmington.
On December 4, Batson was extradited to Delaware and has been charged with the following offenses:
- Murder (First Degree)
- Rape (First Degree)
- Rape (Second Degree)
- Strangulation
- Abuse of a Corpse
