INCIDENT: PC 30305(a)(1)-Felon in Possession of Ammunition
LOCATION: Charlotte Road/Twentynine Palms Highway
SUSPECT(S): Andrew Cardiel, 52-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms
Tasha Perales, 44-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms
Katherine Walter, 39-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., while on proactive patrol, Deputy L.Gonzalez assigned to the Morongo Basin Station conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Charlote Road and Twentynine Palms Highway, in the City of Twentynine Palms. During the traffic stop, a Hispanic male adult identified as, Andrew Cardiel was contacted and found to be in possession of ammunition and methamphetamine.
A search warrant was subsequently authored for Cardiel's residence where additonal ammunition, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located and seized. During the search warrant, deputies contacted Tasha Perales and Katherine Walter. Perales was found to have a felony warrant for Penal Code 496D-Receiving a Stolen Vehicle. Walter was found to have a felony warrant for Penal Code 487(d)(1)-Grand Theft Auto and California Vehicle Code 10851(a)-Vehicle Theft.
Cardiel is a convicted felon and prohibited from being in possession of firearms and ammunition. Cardiel was arrested for Penal Code 30305(a)(1)-Felon in Possession of Ammunition and Health and Safety Code 11377(a)-Possession of a Controlled Substance. Perales and Walter were arrested for their felony warrants. Cardiel, Perales and Walter were booked into the Morongo Basin Jail. Cardiel is being held on a $30,000 bond, Perales is being held on a $40,000 bond and Walter is being held without bail.
