The suspect in this incident is Jared Hernandez, male, 02/26/2007. He was arrested on December 5 on a warrant for the charge of Sexual Assault, and he was booked into the Randall County Jail.
The Amarillo Police Department is thankful that the courageous victim in this case was able to escape from this dangerous situation. Although we had very limited information, Amarillo police Detectives and Crime Analysts used the victim’s description of the suspect, along with a combination of license plate readers, video surveillance, and in-person interviews to determine who this dangerous suspect is and get him in custody.

technology is resulting in more arrests for serious crimes, and a providing a safer community.”

The Amarillo Police Department’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) is seeking the community’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an attack on a local woman.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning, November 24, 2024, between 3:30 AM and 5:00 AM. The victim was walking to work near SW 34th Avenue and Royal Drive when a man attacked her from behind near the west alley. The woman successfully fought off her attacker, and the suspect fled the scene on foot, last seen in the 3400 block of Royal Drive.
The victim reported seeing the man earlier driving a silver minivan before he approached her on foot.
The SVU is asking residents in the area to review any outside security camera footage for images of the suspect walking, running, or driving a silver minivan in the vicinity of SW 34th Avenue, Royal Drive, and the west alley during that time frame.

Thankfully, the victim sustained only minor injuries and was able to get away and seek help. However, we need your assistance to identify this individual and prevent him from harming anyone else.
