VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On December 6, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station responded to related disturbances at two local restaurants in Running Springs. The reporting parties described a female adult, later identified as Priya Pooran, who became irate with the business owners and patrons when they refused her attempts to pander food and transportation. Through investigation, deputies discovered Pooran had defrauded a taxi driver of over $950.00 for transportation from Los Angeles County to Lake Arrowhead.
Over the past two weeks, Pooran had also been linked to several reports where she received lodging in Crestline and Lake Arrowhead then left without paying motel owners for her stay.
Pooran was found to be a resident of New York and/or Chicago with no apparent ties to California. Pooran was positively identified for the theft related to the taxi service. She was charged with PC 484(a) – Theft by False Pretense and booked at Central Detention Center, in lieu of $30,000.00 bail.
Deputies believe Pooran may have victimized other mountain community businesses. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Twin Peaks Station at (909)336-0600.
